The Barry Family
Andrea Barry (and her husband Pete Hammond) reside in Waipukurau and while she is still involved in the BEL Group farming enterprise in a Governance Role and offering general support when needed her day-to-day operational level commitments are no longer as essential with a good Management team and staff in place.
The children Olivia, Robert and Sam are currently pursuing their own career opportunities both inside and outside of the business.
Olivia worked in Wellington for several years as a flight attendant for Qantas then after a stint at the BNZ she then worked as Team Administrator Co-ordinator for Meridian Energy. A couple of years were spent in London working as Office Manager for Multiplex. Now back in Wellington and back with Meridian Energy Olivia is now married to Mitch and they are expecting their first child soon.
Robert & his wife Alison returned to NZ in 2015 after several years away as a ski instructor in Canada, Europe & NZ. On their return Robert worked for BEL Group gaining experience across different farms, sheds and farm systems. Rob then helped set up and worked as BEL Group’s Sustainability Lead overseeing environmental, compliance, regulations, projects and other opportunities as they appeared. Robert & his family now live in Rotorua and where he works for the Bay of Plenty Regional Council as a Land Management Officer. Robert & Alison have 2 children Freddie & Mabel.
Sam is now a qualified Engineer and runs his own business Central Mobile Engineering (CME) and has the CHB Pirtek franchise. The businesses are based in the CHB area and with 5 fulltime employees they service local farms and businesses. He had a successful few years racing V8 utes and then in the V8 cars racing a Toyota Camry for Team Richards Motorsport. While that racing is on hold while he establishes his business further he does still enjoy racing his TQ on the speedway circuit when time allows. Sam and his partner Katie live in Ashley Clinton where they have purchased the Barry family home.
